Friday Night As A Single Christian Woman

The fourth Thursday is Chamber meeting. The third Saturday morning is the breakfast club meeting. The second Sunday is the sorority grad chapter meeting. The first Tuesday is the industry group meeting. The first and third Thursday’s are for our single women’s group from Church to hang out and talk about the Pastor’s message from the previous Sunday.

That leaves Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings for unstructured socializing.

Monday’s ok. Wednesday’s ok. People are working those days anyway.Friday’s…eek! What am I to do really? I see associates post snaps of themselves out on the town & they appear to be so lively. Friends! Lights! Dancing! Drinks.  Drinks? Uh-oh.

This reminds me of a legal ethics opinion I read once. It stated,” a lawyer should avoid even the appearance of professional impropriety.”

The reason for that is because our profession depends on the trust the public must have in the legal profession for it to properly work.

This analogy is directly comparable to ministry and discipleship. The confidence and trust, higher standard we are held to helps us in our mission and position in society.

Well that’s one thing that keeps me inside. I believe that as a single young woman I too should avoid even the appearance of impropriety.

It feels boring, but we learned this thing about spiritual maturity: even when you don’t feel it you do it. Even when you don’t feel worship you still wave your hands. You don’t feel the prayer but you still talk to God. You get it. So, what does a single, young Christian woman do on a Friday night?
